The Machines - Promo EP #1
I read about the machines in Alex Ogg's wicked book 'No More Heroes' when it was first released and was quite surprised to find this five track in the post this morning. What you have here is a '77 Punk band reforming to bring you five well played tracks which are heavily influenced by the early Ramones and Heartbreakers sounds. While the band are going back to their roots I have to say their sound also contains something frash and vibrant that is missing from many Punk bands doing the rounds today. In fact they sound much better than many of the larger Punk bands that have reformed and just happy to cash in by putting any old tosh out. As I said there's five tracks on here and not one filler either. For me the tracks 'Weekend', 'Girl in Black' and 'Don't Be Fooled' did it for me though the other two weren't far behind. If you love the early Punk sound then check out this Southend based band. 8/10 - 'Street Voice', November 2007
